A Rainbow of Mushrooms

One day, two parks, a rainbow of mushrooms.

On July 15, 2006 the Wren Clan set out on a brace of hikes with the objective of completing some multi-caches: Dangling Wood to Wright's Pond in the Middlesex Fells Reservation, and Emily LaGuerre in a little city park in Weston. It was a nice day for a hike, and we saw a Fox in Weston (or at least I did). We found both caches thanks to Donna's tenacious work on previous days.

However, the real stars of the day were the mushrooms. Very early in the hiking we noticed something striking: a lot of mushrooms in a stunning variety of colors. We quickly hit on the crazy idea that we might be able to find a enough mushrooms to fill out a rainbow. The Blue/Green and Blue/Violet mushrooms were the hardest to find, and were the last couple to be found. I'd never seen mushrooms those colors before, so I'm not sure why we dared to be so certain that we would eventually succeed. Oh, and never let it be said that I do not suffer for my art.

We've commemorated the photos in a series of numbered bookmarks that we intend to use as geocaching signature items for a while.

Up.
